What Age Groups of people Can Wear Dental Braces?
Dental braces are devices used in orthodontic treatment for the alignment and straightening the teeth and to help position them in dental health. Braces are also used to correct under bites, as well as malocclusion, overbites, cross bites, open bites, deep bites, crooked teeth, and various other conditions of the teeth and jaw. If any of these conditions arises in a person, there is a need of braces. But the patient should consult the dentist and he will examine the person’s condition and tells whether that person should wear braces or not. If the dentist says that the person should wear braces, that person is called an orthodontic in orthodontics dentistry. Before getting suggestions for braces by the dentist, the patient should undergo some tests like pan, radiography, photos and study models that were made from the dental impressions taken by the dentist. After studying the reports of the patient, then dentist will decide whether to wear braces or not.
These braces can be worn by children, teenagers and adults but it is important to keep in mind whether or not you are an ideal candidate for braces. Until the age of ten or twelve, children are not right candidates for braces, but often an orthodontist can begin treating your child as early as age seven. To make ready the braces that are suitable to your children’s mouth, there is a lot of preparatory work that should be done and it will cut down the amount of time the actual braces need to be worn. Starting early treatment of child is often the best way to prevent surgery, extractions or other complications that could arise later on.
Thus braces can be worn by people of all age groups. But twenty five percent of orthodontia wearers are adults. Many adults go to due to correcting problems that they could not fix as children.
